In 2030, Ted explains to his children how he met and fell in love with their mother. It all starts when Ted's best friend, Marshall, drops the bombshell that he's going to propose to his long-time girlfriend, Lily. At that moment, Ted realises that he had better get a move on if he too hopes to find true love.
Plot: When Marshall gets the job of his dreams, he worries that, once the company discovers videos he made in the past, they may rescind the offer. Meanwhile, Ted can’t decide who to bring to the Architects Ball.
